Did get the tree into a PDF
file. you can get it from our
download page. This is not something to open and look at, it
is something to print and tape together. This is the one we will send
to the reunion.

I am trying to get a full
family tree printed for our aunt to
take with her to the reunion this year. But as usual problems with
the software came up again. I cannot link to the tree online
that i have with Ancestry.com. They also can't find the registration
of our software. I will let you know when it updated.
I did add a 2021 calendar of all people that I have birth, marriage and death
dates.
People that do not show on the calendar could be because of a few reasons.
I don't have the persons birth date, marriage date (for anniversary) or I don't
have them
in the tree. Also a person that has died and is on the tree means I don't have a
death date for them. I also updated the name list and the index of individuals.
Each contain different information on all people in the tree.
As I always ask look and let me know if any info is incorrect or needs to be
changed.

Nothing really new
Did not realize how long it's been since I updated the page.
Did have thoughts during covid that I would have lots of time to get a good
back into it but I was considered a crucial worker and seniority meant that a
very short time off work. The time off only meant that thing in the house
got done (though not everything). There has been a few small updates with
births and deaths that heard of.

Updates
Added updated tree and name lists. Also new is a 2018 calendar
which has all birthdays
( including age ) and anniversaries ( including years of marriage ) on it. If a
person is missing,
or a marriage is not on the calendar that means that I don't have all the
information to be included.
Please let us know so it can be included. Or if you are there and you want to
removed, same thing.

WOW, lots a work
Its been a long road, but trying to keep up. I know its been
awhile but there has been little added to the tree,
until now. In the next few weeks I will be updating the information for you to
download. I have got lots on the
Wetzel side of the family, thanks to Dick Ruswick on
Geni.com. Almost 100 new family members added.
As far as the computer crash, I did most back that I had and
linked. I still have tons of paperwork
(hard copies) to scan in and link to the appropriate people.
The next major issue, Family Tree Maker was bought out by
another company. My plan was to
upgrade to FTM 2017, but this new company has problems. The biggest for sharing
the tree
is that I no longer am able to link to the tree on ancestory.com. It worked that
not only could all you
see the tree, but I could sync the tree to my laptop and phone. This gave us the
ability to always keep
all information as current as possible between all and add new stuff instantly.
They bought the company
over a year ago and still have not released a new version or given information
on when
it's coming, just saying soon.
Asking for you help, please send us picture of family members
to add to the tree. It's nice
to see a face when you are looking at a name. Please
email to us or send
a copy pf the picture.
Thanks again for all your help.

Recovering
Many don't know but in October last year, my hard drive in my
laptop crashed. I lost everything dealing with
the family tree and a lot of other things. Everything that I had digitized for
the tree was gone. I now if this
happened to anyone else, I would say you should have had it backed up. Well, I'm
just like you.
What I was working on was to organize all the files into separate folders to
help make it easier to do
research, to verify information or the ability to find papers to distribute to
all. I had everything on the laptop
to make it easier until I had it separated.
Luckily, ancestry.com
where I did post the tree for everybody save a lot of work. It had the tree and
most of the info that
at least was entered. It took about a month to get the laptop running and the
software back in that I use. It took several
more months to get the info from dad (Dr. Druffner) back in the computer. I
still don't have
all the info I lost but close to 75% back.
I am now starting to get the information from dad in the tree.
Not only the info, I am also linking files to
the people. As I work, new stuff is usually added often.
Again
email us so we
could invite you to see the tree at
ancestry.com.

Still Going
It's been awhile since I updated you on what's going on.
Keeping and maintaining a family tree
is a difficult process. Checking and rechecking before information is added to
be sure that
it is correct. Still, mistakes are made. I have the tree on
ancestry.com and is available to anybody
that we invite to see. It is not public. All you need is a free
membership with Ancestry and be invited by us.
Don't get confused by the free trial offer, just a free membership is needed.
Email us at druffnertree@gmail.com
and we send you an invitation.
Dad gave us a bunch more information that he found. I have
added a lot of it but still lots more to
sort through and get it added to the tree. Along with his information, I have
started adding
documents to the tree. Obituaries, marriage certificates, death certificates and
war related items.
After we get a handle on the these types of documents, we will start on census
records.
All these documents that are added, can be viewed, printed or saved by you.
Again we ask your help on photos. We don't want to just start
adding pictures of people, we want to
add pictures that represent the person accurately, a photo that everyone would
recognize the person.
Some older photos will be hard but we will do the best we can.
I will update the name list and a new tree for you to check
out.
We now are over 700 names and 237 marriages.

Going Slow
Again, this year not much has changed. Just a few dates added
and a couple of minor errors that we came across. This year again, as last,
no files were updated on the web site but we did move all of the downloadable
files to a new page instead of at the bottom of this page.
We were getting use to FTM 2011, so we upgraded again to FTM
2012.
It still does not make the tree's like the old software. I keep seeing in
different
posts that they still plan on bringing the good "All-in-One" tree back.
We hope so.
We do ask that you help us with the picture part of the tree.
Over on the information page will give you ideas of what we are looking for.
I am going to update that page after the holidays to help give a little more
information.
We do still have plans to start sending letter out to help correct information.

Not Much To Say
We did not make many changes in the past year. We did add some
new information in the tree, but not much.
We did not update the trees or books this year. Just a little
about the software we are using,
FTM 2011 has been working fine without any problems but we are still not happy
with it.
Please feel free to check out all information and please let
us know if anything is wrong.
Also please add anything you like to further preserve family history.

Upgrading problems again
We upgraded our family tree software to Family Tree Maker
2011. This version also seems to be problematic. Like I said before,
after reviewing blogs about
FTM 2007 and up to FTM 2009, a lot of people have had the same problem as I did, losing a
great
deal of information. And now with the new version of 2011, a lot of problems
still exist.
After using Family Tree Maker 2011 now for a few weeks, I
not sure what to do. There are a lot of nice features
in
the software,
but a lot of other things have changed, not for the better. More dislikes than
likes. With new
version I am having a lot of problems creating reports in PDF's. The program
keeps crashing and shutting down
before I can even save the report. And it's slow, especially when creating
reports. Every time you make a change
in a report, it takes minutes to refresh the report and FTM does this
automatically. You have no choice but to wait.
One big complaint still is the "All-In-One" tree is
still missing, even after FTM said they where going to bring it back. This was a
nice
feature in older versions of the software. If any of you downloaded the tree
from this site,
it was a big tree. The last time
I actually printed the tree it was
75" x 65". It was a little hard to find names but this is the way most trees
are
drawn. Now since
FTM 2007 and up, the "All-in-One" tree
was replaces by a different tree, the "Extended Family Tree." This one prints weird.
The tree
is now 9"
high but over 346" long (to give you it more in perspective, that's over 28
FEET long) and is not a complete
single tree. It is broken
up into several smaller trees with reference numbers
to names all over the tree.
On the blogs,
this is the most complained part about the software.
I know that I said after the
new year we were going to start sending letters out to correct information
in
the tree
and to add
new information, but not being happy with the software turned us off. We have
been and are still looking for something different
but I think that we are stuck with this one. We just wanted to wait to get
information in case we did change software.
We have a few things going on this summer so probably in the
fall we will start looking for information again. The biggest thing
that we would like is photographs. Well we'll
get into that later. Please feel free to
download the trees
and reports below
and check the information out that we have. Email us for the passwords to
open the files.
I know that many people in the family have parts of the family
tree. What we you like to try is to gather all the small trees
and combine
them
into one tree for everybody and to make it available to all through this web
page or by request. You can go to
Family Tree Makers web site to see the power this program offers.
In our tree now, we mainly have only names, which is good, but
for future generation a little more information would be nice.
One thing that we
would really like to add is pictures. The idea we have is some type of baby
picture, graduation picture, wedding,
or some types of pictures in later years.
Click here to see what we are looking for.
To share the family tree and reports with as many people as we can,
they are
available here in PDF form. Because of the size
of the paper for the tree, over
75" x
65" (this is the old version), and the number of people, now over 500, we
feel this is the
best way it can be shared now.
Printing is not an easy task,
but if you want to print your own copy
of the tree to look at
or share with others, let me know and I
will send you a
different file and tell you how to print it.
Because of security
and privacy issues,
ALL Family Tree files are password protected.
Email
us and we will send you the
password.
