Because people use different software is the reason for the different versions. Most of this stuff we are creating is with Microsoft Office XP. This is an expensive piece of software and not everybody has it or has access to it. The following table shows the file extensions and the software you can use to view it.

Extension Software File Type
doc MS Word This is a typed version of the letter. It can be opened in some, not all word processors.
pdf Acrobat Reader or Acrobat 5.0 This is a portable form of each letter created in the book form.
pub MS Publisher This is the software used to create each letter in book form.
txt Text Editor This is a typed version of the letter. It is just basic text with no formatting and can be opened in any word processor.
jpg or jpeg Image Viewer This is a picture or image in a compressed format.
tif Image Viewer This is a picture or image in a uncompressed format.

This just give you an idea of what type of files are to come. If you have any question, please ask. The pdf file is the type I feel is the most versatile. This file contains the book we are printing out, letter by letter. It is in a lower quality but will print out exactly the same as the pub file.
