War Letters
Home Preserve Scan Typed File Types Versions

The War Letter project has been a long process and is done. A lot of time and hard work is going into this project. (Just like the 'Last Supper' rug.) There are a few major reasons it has taken this long, mainly being sure on how to go about it. The three major things that we are trying to accomplish are:

bullet

A high quality scanned image (info)

bullet

A typed version of each letter (info)

bullet

CD or DVD version for all or a printed version (info)

bullet

Preservation of the original letters (info)

These are listed in the order of difficulty. Preservation is the only thing that has to be done. This will be the hardest to complete. Not really hard but very time consuming. Go to the preserve page to find some information.

One small dilemma that we had, there are some letters that are missing. (Also a couple of the letters we have are missing pages.) We know of 4 letters that 2 family members have. They let us borrow them (not keep) so we can add them to the rest. If anyone else has any letters, we ask if you can send them to us so that we may include them with the rest. We can still add them in at any time. Don't worry, we will return them. If you would like us to preserve them in the same way that we are preserving the rest, let us know.

As far as a time table, the typed and scanned parts are ready. There will be a few different ways the letters will be available to everybody. Click here to see to see what I mean. As I said though the actual preservation will take much longer.

We are not posting anything online. This is just information for you to keep you informed on our progress.
